I want to lose weight, build muscle, tone up, feel strong and good about myself! Does any of this sounds familiar?
If it does, you’re not alone!
When we’re young everything seems easy. Eat what you want and still feel energetic and slim. Then life takes over and before you know it, you’re busy with work, kids and all the life things!
Introducing Ally Sanchez, one of our amazing members!
Ally works as a Herbalist and Nutritionist and small business owner of Lower Mountains Health and Healing (Brooklands Village Blaxland). She has worked in Natural health for over twenty years now and loves it. In her words she is the proud mother of “three teen boys, a husband and two male dogs = the house of testosterone… help…”
Ally has been a member for about 18 months and says “You can feel amazing at any age, it just takes some work… I often tell this to my clients, and it’s true.” Ally started with a few classes per week, learning the fundamentals and foundations and now you can see her here consistently 5+ times per week.
Ally comes from a running background and has completed several half marathons on road and trail. Ally says “As I got closer to (my) 50’s I knew how vital strength training was, especially for women.”
Over the last 12 months of Ally’s training she has seen on average a 30% increase in her strength across her pressing, squatting and pulling strength.
“I am excited to feel my muscles grow… Classes have become a place where I can challenge myself, but also I adore all the wonderful people and coaches I have met. So many make me laugh so much, which makes the whole process such fun, and fun is good, particularly as I don’t get out much these days haha.”
Even just 10 weeks of strength/resistance training has been shown to increase lean weight by 1.4 kg, increase resting metabolic rate by 7%, and reduce fat weight by 1.8 kg. The benefits exceed physical attributes as resistance training include improved physical performance, movement control, functional independence, cognitive abilities, and self-esteem, plus having muscles is awesome right? 😛
