Want to make it easier to start training?

Want to get back into fitness and do something for yourself? Want to feel more confident but don’t know where to start, or how to start, or what to do…??? It can all be too much! And often means you don’t start at all.

So let’s crack through that barrier and talk about some great ideas you can utilise to bite the bullet and crush those goals!

  1. Start small
  2. Bread Crumbs
  3. Seek Experience
  4. 70% tactic

1. Start Small

When starting out you’re excited, and keen to make it all happen all at once. You have a goal and want to get there ASAP! But most of the time, trying to do it all at once can be too much and often means consistency and adherence slowly declines and with that motivation and drive.

Instead, set a ‘bite-sized’ goal, achieve it, tick it off and then build on it. When we achieve these tasks our body gives us a little hit of dopamine (reward) and we feel good. Then we can set the next bite sized goal etc, etc and before you know it, you’ve eaten the whole buffet (Bad analogy..?).

2. Bread Crumbs (Can you tell I like food?)

Map out steps towards your goals. From where you’re starting to where you want to get and all the little achievements (bread crumbs) along the way. It’s easy to get to where you’re going when you know the way or have a map.

3. Seek Experience

Find an expert, someone that can direct you and show you the path. It will save you a lot of trial and error and a lot of time. It will keep you more motivated as you’ll progress faster and hit more wins closer together. If there are any speed bumps or detours along the way, experience can help you navigate back on the path and continue in the right direction.

4. 70% tactic

It’s hard to always show up, especially when things get hard. Allow yourself to give 70%. Doesn’t have to be more. If it is, great, but consistency above all is your greatest ally. And “little by little, a little becomes a lot”.

Find a local gym that provides coaching, not just access and you’ll get to your goals faster. If you live in the Blue Mountains and resinate with this article book a No Sweat Intro with CrossFit Peak and see how we can help you get to your goals. If you want to give CrossFit a go, but don’t live in the area, check out the CrossFit Map and find an affiliate near you.
